Zombie Nation is a horizontal shoot’em up originally released in 1990 on Famicom and a year later published in North America.
The game features a Tengu, a god in Japanese tradition, which has to save the world from a demonic creature, called Darc Seed.
Between the two versions there are only few differences, the Japanese one (Abarenbou Tengu) has a red mask with a long nose as main character, the classic representation of Tengu, while the Western one has a floating head of samurai and the autofire is already available, unlike the Japanese version.
The port made by City Connection has some features such as a new mode with rewind, fast save and fast load, selectable autofire in Abarenbou Tengu and a widescreen mode which shows score, hi-score and achievements aside the playing area.
The game is a Japanese exclusive release and includes the following items :
– original “Excitengu” cardboard box
– reversible cover
– original soundtrack with new songs re-arranged from Abarenbou Tengu
– a book containing illustration from the original version and interviews with the developers
– original acrylic key-chain featuring Tengu
