Despite being also released for arcades, Sonic Blast Man for Super Famicom is totally a different game : the original consists in hitting enemies with a mechanical punch pad while the home console version is more a classic side scrolling beat’em up.
The player has to save the Earth from evil forces including street gangs, terrorists, robots and alien; Sonic Blastman can grab his enemies, shake them and unleash a series of punches, generating a sonic wave. There are some connections to the original arcade version : the bonus levels have the same mechanic but the player has to rotate the d-pad to set the strength of punches.
The Japanese version has female enemies which were replaced in the Western releases.
