Hirohiko Araki’s manga was perfect for a fighting game so Capcom could not miss the oppurtunity to realize an arcade fighting games, one of the last based on CPS-3 boards.
Ported to Playstation in 1999, the game is based on the original arcade but includes also characters from the revision (“Heritage for the Future”) and an exclusive Super Story Mode which covers all the Stardust Memories arc.
The gameplay is similar to other Capcom fighting games (the team behind Street Fighter III worked on this game) and of course while fighting it is possible to summon a Stand, a guardian spirit that accompanies almost every character; during Story Mode and especially Super Story Mode besides fighting matches there are some side scrolling mini games that add variety to gameplay.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is also compatible with Pocket Station.
