While Dragon Ball popularity was spreading around Japan, and not only, it was normal to see many games based on it to arrive on the shelves.
Dragon Ball Z Legend is a 2D/3D fighting game and as you can notice it’s particular : while characters are sprites based, the environment is in 3D so they can move freely around it. The action takes place on the ground in the beginning, but characters can fly so most of the fight is done skyward; besides the classic attacks, punches and kicks, all characters have a special move, called “Ki” which uses an energy meter : despite can be recharged, a continous use of Ki will exhaust the character, leaving him wide open for attacks.
There are 7 characters, Story Mode and Versus Mode. Story mode features almost the most important battles from the series.
Unlike Saturn version, Dragon Ball Z Legend for PS1 was released only in Japan.
