Horizontal shoot’em up developed by Compile, the team behind Musha Aleste, and published by Naxat Soft in 1992.
It’s not directly connected to the previous game and also the gameplay moved from a vertical scrolling to a horizontal one.
The player controls a mecha armed with a cannon, homing missiles and a beam saber; the large size of the mecha makes it a little easy to get hit by enemy bullets but there is a shield which can absorb a lot of damages and recharges pretty quickly.
There are often animated scene which pauses the action a little too much but in the end the game is enjoyable, it was praised for the graphics, especially the parallax scrolling and background effects, and for the soundtrack.
Spriggan Mark 2 was released only in Japan.
