Horizontal (but also vertical) shoot’em up from Konami, originally released for arcades in 1986 and ported to PC Engine in 1991.
Salamander born as a Gradius spin-off, player 1 controls Vic Viper, with as simple power-up system; the game features a cooperative 2 players mode, six stages, some with horizontal scrolling and some other with vertical scrolling, and after dying the player continues from the same point instead of starting from some predefined checkpoints as in Gradius.
The PC Engine port is based on the arcade version, faster enemy animations and an improved soundtrack.
It was released only in Japan.
