Vertical shoot’em up developed by Toaplan in 1988, it was ported to Megadrive in 1989 after becoming a commercial success.
As usual you have to stop an alien invasion, this time your ship is armed with a main gun and bombs; the main gun can be upgraded by picking up “P” icons and three types of weapons are available, wide reaching shot which is upgraded by picking up red pods, blue pods will shift the main gun to homing laser while green pods is for a straight beam.
The Megadrive port was quite faithful to the arcade version but due to a smaller colour palette some sprites were recolored different.
In the west Tatsujin is known as “Truxton“.
